Octavia is a poetry collective for womxn of colour founded by poet, Rachel Long in response to the lack of inclusivity and representation in literature and academia. Since 2015, we have come together to read beyond the canon and write ourselves on our own terms - not only as fellow poets but as sisters. We meet monthly at Southbank Centre, London, and regard it as our poetic home.
Octavia have featured on BBC World Service, in The Guardian and ASOS Magazine. We’ve read at venues from Barbican Centre to Latitude Festival, and run poetry and creative-educational workshops for University of Oxford and the Serpentine Galleries.
